Why should I have my engine block honed with a torque plate?
In order to get a truly round cylinder and good ring seal, you have to use a torque plate to duplicate the head bolts that pull on that portion of the cylinder wall.
Is it necessary to have my blocks crankshaft mains line honed?
Yes because over the years the main line on your block will become out of round from years of abuse and heat. Also if you decide to use ARP Main studs or new bolts you should always line hone your block.
When I put in new Connecting rod bolts is it necessary to use the lubricant that came with the bolts?
Yes, use the Lubricant that the manufacture recommends so you get the proper clamping force for that particular fastener. This applies to ARP,Manley,Carrillo, eagle,Oliver etc. Always follow their recommendations they are the experts.
Do I need to have my engine Dyno tested?
I like to think yes, since it is a invaluable tool in assessing any problems that can occur or for getting a base line on the tuning before the engine goes into that expensive muscle car or street rod. Also to break in that engine properly we all know how important that first 30 minutes of operation is for the overall life of a engine.
What is a safe compression ratio for a engine with today's pump gas?
There is no real stead fast rule to this topic, 8.8:1 for your everyday use vehicle should be OK. 9.3:1 with premium fuel for your OEM muscle car would be OK. Remember there are many factors when it comes to compression ratio so you should email us so we can discuss your particular application.
